Early warning signs of diabetes: what to look for

According to the World Health Organisation, more than 400 million people in the world have diabetes. In Russia, this disease has been diagnosed in about 10.5 million people, i.e. about every 15th person. Therefore, every person should know the symptoms of diabetes in order to react in time and start treatment.

Doctors of the Kazakhstan Sanatorium of the city of Yessentuki recommend listening to your body and periodically take tests in the laboratory and regularly visit the doctor. With constant screening as well as compliance with all recommendations of the attending physician, the patient detects diabetes in a timely manner and starts therapy in time.

To the early signs of diabetes doctors of the Kazakhstan Sanatorium include:

  • Dry mouth and excessive thirst
  • Increased fatigue and excessive sleepiness
  • Muscle weakness, muscle spasms, tingling and loss of sensation in the extremities
  • Frequent urination
  • Trouble seeing (rapid development of eye diseases)
  • Non-healing wounds on the body
  • Dry skin

You should see an endocrinologist with these or similar symptoms.

A diagnosis of diabetes can be an unpleasant surprise, but it’s not a judgement, it’s just a different way of life that you have to get used to. Accept your condition, realise the possible consequences of eating disorders, make certain adjustments in your daily life.
