Mud therapy: ancient traditions and modern approaches
Story
Mud therapy has been used since ancient times to alleviate various diseases.
For example, in ancient Egypt, people suffering from illnesses applied a layer of mud to themselves, after which they went to the bank of the Nile and lay in the sunlight. This method of using medicinal mud is one of the most ancient and simple.
Since 1803, the resorts of the Caucasus Mineralnye Vody received state status. And since that time, in addition to unique mineral waters, resorts began to use therapeutic mud. The main reserve of healing mud in the region is located in Lake Tambukan.
In 1914, a magnificent mud therapy center, designed by the famous architect E. F. Shreter, appeared in the city of Yessentuki. This building became a real decoration of the resort and a place where one could receive mud treatments.
Nowadays
Nowadays, few sanatoriums of the Caucasus Mineralnye Vody can boast the possibility of carrying out the full cycle of mud treatment: from the place of storage to the delivery to the couch.
There is such a complex in our Kazakhstan Sanatorium in the city Yessentuki, where 40 tons of therapeutic mud are stored in a special storage facility, and certain storage conditions are observed.
Before applying the treatment, the mud is heated to the desired temperature and delivered directly to the couch. All stages of transportation, heating and delivery of mud to the place where the procedures are carried out are automated.
Mud therapy is used both as a primary and an auxiliary treatment in the complex therapy of many diseases.
