December 11 is an International Mountain Day

International Mountain Day is celebrated all over the world. We made a list of several picturesque places worth of visiting if you set off from Yessentuki to get positive emotions.

Mount Mashuk, Pyatigorsk

It’s one of the most famous mountains of the Caucasus Mineralnye Vody which is ideal for hiking. It can be reached on foot if you walk through Broadway to Tsvetnik Park.
Guests of the resort region can walk around the mountain along terrainkurs which are beneficial for health, climb to the top along the path or by cable car. Take a walk in the silence of the winter forest or be at the top at once – the choice is yours. On a clear day you can enjoy a breathtaking view from here.

Mount Zheleznaya, Zheleznovodsk.

The easiest way to get here is to follow the signs in the Resort Park of Zheleznovodsk. There you can see a picturesque terrainkur which runs around Mount Zheleznaya. You can also climb to the top, but you should measure your own strength and level of training as the route can be difficult. There are several sights and amazing views of Beshtau and the surrounding area.

The Elbrus Region

Those who like active rest and beautiful mountain views can visit the Elbrus region. Local tour agencies regularly take tourists there, so you can enjoy the views and possibly ski down the slopes. However, it’s important to bear in mind that ski slopes here are really challenging, thus, you shouldn’t go there without training. It is better to enjoy the incredible views of Mount Cheget and other breathtaking natural sites.

Dombay, Karachay-Cherkessia

It’s an atmospheric place where you can also go using services of a tour agency. You can come here at any time of year as this area is always fabulously beautiful. You may also see spectacular views along the way: the road is surrounded by ancient coniferous forests and majestic mountains. The town of Teberda and the village of Dombay are the most popular holiday destinations. There are a lot of hiking trails with incredible natural Caucasus landscapes for your entertainment. Dombay village is known as a ski resort, so here you can not only ride on the cable car and eat khychins enjoying the view, but also go skiing. There are several routes on ski lifts that lead to various attractions and slopes of different levels of complexity. Arkhyz, Karachay-Cherkessia

It’s one of the most popular ski resorts in Russia. It is famous not only for excellent conditions for active sports fans, but also for its untouched nature and massive mountains, which are a pleasure to admire. You will certainly be impressed if you decide to try out the local ski slopes. However, you can find a lot of interesting things here even if you are not a fan of winter sports. For example, you can visit Astrophysical Observatory or ancient Alanian temples.
