The airplane was named after the resort city of Essentuki!
Airline “Russia” (Aeroflot group) assigned the Superjet 100 aircraft the name of the city of Essentuki – in honor of the biggest resort in the Stavropol region. The name and coat of arms of the city are located on the fuzelage nose section. The liner has a two-class layout and is designed to carry 87 passengers: 12 in business class and 75 in economic.
On December 7, 2021, the aircraft made its first flight from St. Petersburg Pulkovo Airport to Mineralnye Vody, where the presentation of the aircraft took place in a solemn atmosphere. In honor of this significant event, in accordance with the tradition of holding important events, the airport greeted Russian plane with a water arch. The airliner was welcomed at the airport by Governor of the Stavropol region Vladimir Vladimirov, General Director of Mineralnye Vody International Airport Roman Chuev, journalists and representatives of the blogosphere.
As the Governor of the Stavropol region Vladimir Vladimirov noted, Stavropol with its significant economic and resort potential is interested in maximizing the expansion of all types of transport connections, including airlines.
“Our joint work with air carriers helps expand flight geography from and to Stavropol region. Over the past two years, the number of air routes to Stavropol and Mineralnye Vody has grown from 37 to 57. Including new directions: 15 domestic and 12 international routes. We will continue this work in the future. Growth of passenger traffic is an energy of growth for the economy of Stavropol, including our resorts. I am glad that the aircraft named after the city of Essentuki now helps to position the health resorts of Stavropol in the Russian sky,” – the head of the region emphasized.
The head of the Mineralnye Vody airport, Roman Chuev, noted that the air harbor is aimed at implementing a strategy to increase the number of flights and passenger traffic on routes bypassing the Moscow Aviation Hub, which contributes to increasing the transport accessibility of the resort region of the Caucasian Mineral Waters.
