Pyatigorsk leads the top ten popular hiking destinations
Russian booking service Tvil.ru has revealed popular destinations for short hiking trips on November holidays. The resort city of Pyatigorsk topped the rating, overtaking Krasnaya Polyana and Arkhyz.
Hiking and trekking are the most simple kinds of walking tourism along known and marked routes. No special preparation for such trips is required.
Pyatigorsk perfectly suits both for easy walking up the mountain and for more difficult hiking. The resort city is located at the foot of two mountains – Mashuk (993.7 m) and Beshtau (1 400 m).
Mount Mashuk is equipped for hiking health walks: terrenekurs, paved “lacet” leading to the peak, several forest trails to the top of the mountain – you can choose a great walk to suit any taste and desired physical exercise.
Mount Beshtau is the highest mountain in the region, and its summit offers a view of all the Caucasus Mineralnye Vody. There are no equipped routes here, only mountain stony trails of varying difficulty. This attracts fans of trekking, wishing not only for memorable experiences from the picturesque nature, but also for significant physical exercise, the joy of conquering the top.
In early November, many of the conquerors of Beshtau come to the so-called “low clouds” season. On these days, once you reach the top, you can admire the sea of cloudy under your feet.
