One day in Yessentuki
One day is enough to fall in love with Yessentuki. You need much more time to get to know it, but if our guests don’t have time, we can recommend several places and sightseeing tours that must be visited.
You should start, of course, with a beautiful, cozy and well-maintained Resort park. While walking you should certainly stop at famous Mud baths, Nikolaev baths, well-room of Spring Gallery No. 17, Cascade of fountains and Zander Institute of Mechanotherapy.
After that we recommend you to visit V.P. Shpakovsky Museum of local history located in the historic center of the city, in the Art Nouveau two-storey mansion constructed by priest D.Ya. Karagachev at the end of the XIX century. A visitor feels like he/she is taking a trip back in time while crossing the threshold of the mansion… The Museum Fund has 30 thousand storage units. No doubt, its guests will be interested to see such unique authentic exhibits as the first printed page in the Caucasus Mineralnye Vody, books and postcards issued for the 100th anniversary of the resort, the memorial plaque and arithmometer from the first Russian hydroelectric power station “White Coal”, furniture of Elizabeth Petrovna, daughter of Peter the Great, as well as household items of Cossack village, paleontology and archaeology collections, exhibitions devoted to iconic figures in the history of the resort, and much more.
Bicycle tours are an interesting alternative to walking in Yessentuki. You can choose such tours as “Pre-revolutionary Caucasus Mineralnye Vody”, “Sightseeing tour of the Caucasus Mineralnye Vody”, “Tours for kids” and others. This way you will not just learn Yessentuki history, but also visit landmark locations and exercise at the same time. You won’t climb high mountains, rest stops and stories of a guide are included in bicycle tours as well.
A unique complex on the territory of which there are four chapels and two temples – the Temple of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul and the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is located away from the central resort area. Risen Christ Statue, the highest statue in the country, became part of the complex in 2013. Thanks to the majestic 22-meter monument, this place is truly known as “Rio-De-Kavkaz” by analogy with the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where there is a 38-meter statue of Christ the Redeemer.
Except the Orthodox holy places you can find many interesting sights to see just stopping by the Promenade where there are small architectural forms, a garden with unusual and beautiful plants, a fountain, a collection of vintage cars. A children’s playground and MiniZoo were built near the entrance for young tourists.
The atmosphere of the complex disposes you for tranquility and contemplation.
