• The Caucasus Mineralnye Vody is the oldest resort in Russia, but not the first one. However, it could become the first, when in 1717, by order of Peter the Great, the healing water study began. It failed because most of the springs at the time were in the possession of the Circassians.
• Terrenkurs are special trails for hiking of a moderate physical activity. The first terrenekur in Russia appeared in 1901 in Kislovodsk, thanks to doctor N.N. Oblonsky.
• There are about 1.5 million tons of healing mud in Lake Tambukan, near the city of Pyatigorsk. Scientists say that its properties are much more valuable than those of the Dead Sea mud.
• The Caucasus Mineralnye Vody has unrivalled amount of curative resources. There are 24 deposits of mineral waters including Yessentuki, Pyatigorsk, Zheleznovodsk and Kislovodsk.
