The 4-lane highway connected the resort cities of Essentuki and Kislovodsk.

As part of the repair of Kislovodsk – Mineralnye Vody road, the narrow and inconvenient section of the road between Kislovodsk and Essentuki cities turned into a new four-lane highway.
